Each year on a Saturday in early spring, members of the northern Door County community gather together, put on bowling shoes, and start knocking down pins at the Sister Bay Bowl. Why you might ask? For children of course!

The Annual Super Bowl-A-Thon Fundraising event benefits the young children and families of Northern Door Children’s Center in Sister Bay. Teams of four bowlers raise a minimum of $200 by collecting pledges of support from friends and family. This year we had 15 teams enjoying a relaxing, family-friendly event, all for a great cause. We love our bowlers!!!

Local businesses get into the act, too. They generously offer to sponsor the Bowl-A-Thon and help make it a financial success. This year we had the most sponsors EVER!  First of all, the entire day could never have happened without the generosity of Penny Anschutz and the staff of the Sister Bay Bowl. They make is feel welcome and help us in every possible way!

For the second year, our amazing overall sponsor was Piggly Wiggly Sister Bay. This year, Nicolet National Bank was our Super Snack Sponsor, helping us feed all those hard working, hungry bowlers. Then there were the fabulous lane and event sponsors: Baileys 57, Blue Horse Beach Café, The Cookery, Door County Medical Center, Grasse’s Grill, Scandinavian Lodge, Sister Bay Automotive, and Wilson’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor.

We also had two wonderful sponsors who helped us with the tee-shirts that make all the bowlers feel so special…Carlson & Erickson Builders, Inc. and Edge of Park Bike and Moped Rentals. The lovely folks at Ad Quest donated a BIG box of door prizes, and Julie’s Upscale Resale gave us some yummy Mrs. Meyers products to give away. Wilson’s also gave gift certificates for the team who were the highest scorers.

Last, but definitely not least, were all our intrepid bowlers and the people who pledged money to support them! We started bowling at 10 a.m. and a new group of bowlers came in every two hours. The last group wrapped at 8 p.m.! It was a day filled with fun, lots of laughter, and the joy of all working together for a great cause.

Just in case you don’t know, Northern Door Children’s Center is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization serving the educational and early care needs of young children ages six weeks-10 years. We’ve been doing this work since 1986. 100% of the proceeds of the 2017 Super Bowl-A-Thon directly benefits our students!!

Be sure and join us in 2018 for a ROLLIN’, BOWLIN’ GOOD TIME!
