The Sky Room is home to Northern Door Children's Center's 4Learning Program and a high quality pre-kindergarten program for 4 and 5 year old children.

4Learning is a program designed to meet the unique learning needs of four year old children. The curriculum is balanced to develop the whole child and to offer the children many "hands on" learning experiences. We know that four year olds learn best when they have many opportunities to actively explore and experiment. The program's goals will include helping children to learn to practice appropriate social interaction, find strategies to problem solve, to think independently, to learn cooperatively and to make effective choices. 4Learning is not kindergarten and is not designed to replace that experience.

Children must be four years old on or before September 1st to be eligible to attend the 4Learning Program.

4Learning is held in NDCC's Sky Room five mornings per week, M-F, during the regular academic school year. The program allows the Gibraltar Area Schools school calendar and program breaks occur concurrently. 4Learning operates from 9:00a.m. to 12:00 noon. On "break days", when NDCC is open, a preschool program will still operate in the Sky Room. These will be special days with fun and special themes. We plan to provide 540 hours of instruction in this program each academic school year. Children must be enrolled for a minimum of of 2 mornings per week. The program is varied and different lessons are facilitated each day of the week. The more frequently your child attends, the more opportunities there will be for learning.

The primary teacher for 4Learning is Karen Corekin. Karen has recently returned to school to acquire the appropriate licensure from the Department of Public Instruction to teach 4 year olds.
