March 31, 2020
Dear Parents and Families,
The COVID-19 situation continues to develop across the world, the country, the state, and our own Door County. We now have the first positive case of the virus in the county. Northern Children’s Center will be closed this week, March 31-April 3, 2020. The positive case triggered a closure as outlined in the NDCC Board action taken on March 16, 2020.
Per NDCC Board action on March 31, 2020 and upon consultation with the Door County Public Health Department, Northern Door Children’s Center will re-open on Monday, April 6, 2020 and remain open for the foreseeable future. As you are all aware, Governor Evers Safer at Home order went into effect on March 25, 2020 and remains in effect until Friday, April 24, 2020. In this order, all childcare programs serving health providers and essential workers are requested to remain open. We are providing a critical service in allowing essential workers in our community to continue working to keep us safe and healthy.
As more positive cases are identified in our community, the Children’s Center will only close again if it is determined that there has been a case of COVID-19 virus having close contact directly with the Center. We will then follow directives from health and regulatory agencies for re-opening procedures, and reopen at the discretion of the NDCC Board of Directors.
These are unsettling and uncertain times. We will continue to follow the mandated health and safety directives we have implemented. We are making every effort to keep your families and ours safe and healthy.
We will continue to communicate with you as we navigate the unknown.
Stay well and know that we are thinking of you daily.
Sincerely,
Cindy Trinkner-Peot
Executive Director
