Northern Door Children's Center is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) Teacher to become part of our dedicated team. This full-time, year-round position offers the opportunity to help children build confidence, develop foundational skills, and prepare for a successful transition to kindergarten—all while working in the beautiful community of Sister Bay.
About the Role
As our 4K Teacher, you will collaborate with fellow educators to provide a warm, engaging classroom where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. Through purposeful play, hands-on experiences, and intentional instruction, you'll support each child's growth across all areas of development while partnering with families to ensure every child thrives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and lead age-appropriate learning experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and school readiness.
Deliver literacy instruction using evidence-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading, including phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
Foster an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels welcomed, respected, and supported.
Encourage positive social-emotional development through nurturing guidance and responsive teaching strategies.
Observe children's progress, maintain developmental records, and use assessments to inform instruction.
Build strong relationships with families through regular communication about classroom activities and student growth.
Work collaboratively with teachers and leadership to support center initiatives and student success.
Ensure the classroom meets all licensing, health, safety, and organizational standards.
Participate in professional learning opportunities, staff meetings, and center-wide events.
Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have:
A bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field (preferred).
A Wisconsin DPI teaching license or eligibility for licensure (preferred).
Experience working with preschool or 4K-age children.
Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification.
The ability to successfully complete all required background screenings.

Northern Door Children's Center is seeking assistants to substitute in all classrooms, ages infant through five years. We work around your schedule. You tell us when you can work and we match you up to our daily needs. Monday through Friday year round, up to 40 hours per week.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Must be a lover of children and education, be dependable, flexible, and willing to take responsibility as part of our teaching teams.
Must be 17 years or older.
