Nan Powell
Classroom Teacher
I attended UW-Oshkosh and received a degree in Geography/Geology. Upon entering the workforce, I realized I wanted to work with children. I received a degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Science from UW-Superior. I have received certification in inclusion in the class resources to engage children in school and outdoors.
I taught summer school to elementary children mainly emphasizing outdoor activities and field trips. I was an elementary teacher for 30 years, when I retired in 2016. I joined the teaching staff of Northern Door Children’s Center in 2020 and I teach in all the classrooms, depending on where I am needed.
I am very interested in literacy and center based learning in the classroom integrating science, social studies, reading and language arts.
I am married to a wonderful man, Bill. We have three grown children and five grandchildren. I enjoy spending time with them as well as hiking, canoeing and leisurely biking.
